Donna Nook Poem

Donna Nook
*
Crowds crowd and clamber up
And over
sand dunes
On a chilly sunny Sunday
To see seal pups
With their mothers
On the shore,
Lumbering
Slumbering
Dozing, lazing
Posing, gazing
Breathing, heaving
Some are totally inert -
Like giant pebbles
Grey, grey-flecked, dull brown
Heavy, earth-bound
Waiting for the sea
To reclaim them
From the ground
